Keep Dancing Until The Music Stops
Asbury Research’s Stock Market Update & Asbury Investment Management Video is a free report that we use to keep in contact with existing clients, and those who have previously asked for information about either Asbury Research or Asbury Investment Management (AIM). Feel free to contact us for additional information about our services for both professional and private investors.
In our previous April 11th Stock Market Update & Asbury Investment Management Video, we said that our Asbury 6 Model (one of 2 in-house Tactical models we use to determine when to be invested) moved to a Positive (bullish) status on March 11th. Table 1 below shows that, through Friday April 23rd, all “A6” constituent metrics remain Positive (bullish, green).
How To Interpret The A6: Four or more metrics in one direction, either Positive (green) or Negative (red), indicate a Tactical bias. The dates in each cell indicate when each individual constituent of the A6 turned either positive (green) or negative (red). When all Asbury 6 are positive, market internals are the most conducive to adding risk to portfolios. Each negative reading adds an additional element of risk to participating in current or new investment ideas.
Chart 1 below plots the S&P 500 (SPX) daily since September 2020 with its 200- (major trend proxy, orange) and 50-day (minor trend proxy, blue) moving averages. The teal green highlights show that SPX has spiked higher by 241 points or 6.1% since the “A6” shifted back to Positive on March 11th.
The chart also shows that initial underlying support is currently 2% to 3% below the market at 4086 to 4051, which represent the 21-day moving average (solid red line) and the March 2020 uptrend (dashed purple) line. It would take a sustained decline below this area to suggest that a long-overdue corrective decline may be beginning. Until then, we will continue to participate in this historically over-extended advance until the data tell us it’s time to protect our profits.
Our latest video below shows how we have navigated these recent market conditions for client portfolios in real-time.
